We are seeking a qualified Site Electrician to join our growing team at the Homestake site, located in Lead, South Dakota. This is an excellent chance to be a part of a high-performing Maintenance Team at the closed Homestake and Richmond Hill Mines.

As a Site Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems across our closure sites. In this versatile role, you'll contribute to a range of critical tasks, from general maintenance and system inspections to hands-on operational support. We’ll provide you with training to grow into a multiskilled role, allowing you to expand your expertise and build a rewarding career within our organization.

Your Responsibilities

As the Site Electrician, you will:

  • Diagnose, Repair, and Maintain Electrical Systems: Ensure the functionality of motors, pumps, panels, control systems, power distribution, and other electrical equipment at the site.

  • Project Support: Develop scopes of work for electrical projects, work with contracts personnel to evaluate bids/offers, and oversee contractor performance to ensure safe, timely, and cost-efficient project execution.

  • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Create and implement effective preventative maintenance programs to keep infrastructure running safely and efficiently.

  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to local and national codes, company policies, and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment at all times.

  • Calibrate and Intervene: Calibrate instruments, identify potential electrical issues, and proactively address them before system failures occur.

  • Read and Interpret Technical Drawings: Utilize schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues effectively.

  • Collaborate Positively: Work alongside a diverse team of technicians, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain process integrity and meet deadlines.

  • Keep Accurate Records: Document work performed to ensure transparency and compliance.

  • Contribute to Maintenance Success: Support general site operations, inspections, troubleshooting, and other required tasks to maintain system processes across the closure sites.

  • Adapt to Changing Priorities: Perform additional duties as required in support of project or site needs.

  • A commitment to safety, procedural compliance, and delivering high-quality work.

  • A strong technical background in electrical systems, with experience in troubleshooting and maintaining complex equipment.

  • The ability to interpret and apply technical diagrams and schematics.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Multiskilled or flexible experience in maintenance/operations is a plus (though training will be provided).

  • A proactive and collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • License: Valid South Dakota Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent with reciprocity agreement.

  • Experience: Minimum of six (6) years in the electrical trade.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical codes, regulations, safety procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving capabilities, effective communication, and the ability to work both independently and in a team setting.

  • Preferred: Understanding of pumps, pumping systems, and water treatment plant operations.
