We're expanding our people division and seeking a Superintendent of Process Technical Services for our Cortez operations. This pivotal role will oversee three key areas:

  1. Metallurgical department

  2. Metallurgical and Analytical labs

  3. Over-the-Road (OTR) ore shipping from Cortez to Carlin

Key Responsibilities

The Superintendent will:

  • Foster a zero-incident safety culture, aligning all employees with organizational goals

  • Analyze performance metrics to maximize production and identify plant improvement opportunities

  • Provide technical support to operations groups

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop production targets for forecasts and budgets

  • Coordinate activities with mine departments, environmental teams, and safety and health units

  • Orchestrate site teams, including maintenance, operations, construction, and technical groups, to optimize ore extraction efficiency

Strategic Leadership

The role involves:

  • Developing annual metallurgical constraints for regional metal plans

  • Managing inventory and gold accounting procedures

  • Enhancing technical, commercial, and interpersonal skills of departmental staff

  • Guiding career development for key team members

  • Prioritizing and coordinating departmental activities

  • Aligning metallurgical and engineering needs

  • Ensuring compliance with NGM safety standards

  • Offering technical support to plant, OTR, and lab operations

Job requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Minerals Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent qualifying experience is required.

  • 5-10 years of experience in operations or maintenance supervision, including expertise in analytical/metallurgical laboratories, metallurgical procedures, budgeting systems, project management, ore characteristics, crushing, grinding, classification, material handling, pyro processing, hydrometallurgy, extractive metallurgy, and/or reliability maintenance.

  • Proficiency with Xeras (Runge) or a similar zero-based budgeting tool is preferred.

  • Experience in milling and heap leach operations is preferred.

  • Familiarity with SAP or a similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is preferred.
