Role Overview

As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, responsible, and effective management of the Golden Sunlight Mine. This role encompasses all facets of mine operations to achieve the organization’s strategic goals while managing external stakeholder relationships. Key areas include:

• Mining and Processing Operations

• Equipment Maintenance

• Technical Services

• Planning and Budgeting

• Cost Control

• Sustaining Capital Project Management

• Reclamation and Closure Activities

Key Responsibilities

• Safety Leadership

  • Cultivate a safety-focused culture, enabling employees to identify risks and implement effective controls.

  • Champion Barrick Gold North America’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) plans at the site.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state HSE regulations and liaise with regulatory agencies as needed.

• Operational Excellence

  • Develop and manage the operational and financial budgets, including reclamation and closure activities.

  • Establish and monitor production key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring team accountability for target achievements.

  • Coordinate maintenance activities to optimize shutdown events, enhancing plant reliability.

• Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety, environmental, operational, financial, and community relations aspects.

  • Ensure all activities align with Barrick’s values and operational standards.

• Team Development

  • Lead and mentor the site team, fostering personnel development and training.

  • Engage with employees at all levels through meetings, inspections, performance reviews, and site visits.

• Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent Barrick Gold in local host communities and oversee the local community development committee.

  • Prepare and present accurate, timely reports to all organizational levels.

• Risk Management

  • Identify potential risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.

  • Promote awareness and proactive problem-solving within the organization.

• Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mine Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience

  • 3 to 5 years in progressive operational or management roles, with at least 2 years in process operations.

  • Proven track record of leading a strong safety culture.

  • Experience in mines of comparable size and technical scope to Golden Sunlight Mine is preferred.

• Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional people skills with a focus on coaching and mentoring.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

  • Demonstrated capability in financial management and understanding of profitability drivers.

  • Ability to design, implement, and control internal and external projects.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of preparing and presenting reports effectively.

• Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours as necessary.
